!.  What's the difference between granite and marble?

A: Granite is harder. Marble is softer and easier to shape. That's why Michelangelo's "Venus" and other immortal statues are of marble; not granite. Marble is also more varied in contrasting color "veining" and hues. Look for a more detailed explanation, coming soon to this web site.

2  Why are granite and other natural stones so popular?

A: The stone which you buy from The Granite Guy was part of the earth when it was born. Elements present when the heavens and the earth came together in cataclysmic heat, eruptions and lifeless millions of years reflect the sun as you sit at your granite table and sip orange juice in the morning. That same composition, as magma, once flowed like a fresh milkshake from your blender before cooling, becoming part of earth's crust and more recently finding its way to your kitchen. More important than ancient history, however, is the durability and visual appeal provided by granite and other natural stones. We're not offering something which will be recalled in three months because it's unsafe around children. Granite is environmentally safe, sturdy and easy on the eyes. No wonder it's becoming more popular every day.

3. Why do you list so many stone suppliers at The Granite Guy web site?

As a base for statuary and accent areas, granite is tops!  We work with contracors and retailers who specialize in outdoor decor and combine forces to provide custom creations.  Call The Granite Guy nearest you to learn more.

10. The suburban "big box" home improvement stores offer "cultured marble" for way less than natural stone. Why?

Cultured marble is to marble what sausage is to sirloin steak: bits of the real thing suspended in a moldable paste and poured into a form. That's how cultured marble "moulded vanities" are made. When you compare the price of sausage to steak, it's easy to see why the whole, natural expanses of natural stone cost more than stone bits in an stew of stone and filler. Natural stone from The Granite Guy doesn't have to be reinforced with fiberglass foundations and can be used in showers and near areas of extreme temperatures with absolutely no compromise of structural integrity. When you consider value over the long run, visual appeal and versatility, you will go with The Granite Guy. Still not convinced? Call The Granite Guy nearest you, and we'll tell you more.
