The Granite Guy contributed significantly to the success of the new home of Gopal
and Tulasi Reddy.
The Reddy's kitchen is truly a granite "showplace"
which not only reflects their appreciation of superb craftsmanship, but makes for easy maintenance.
The use of randomly placed dark granite in a field of lighter stone n the
floor continues the motif begun in the front door entry way and extended throughout the halls in the ground floor living space.
The effect adds to the eye appeal while not adding excessive complexity. Colors used harmonize with all elements encountered
in kitchen, dining area and halls.
Granite was also used in the cooking island and counter tops. The dark shade blends with most minor spills while
the polished finish reflects electric and ambient light, providing a bright environs for food preparation and dining. Granite allows
the hottest pots and pans from the stove top and oven to be placed directly on it. The expanse of granite between the
stove and the dining area permits easy placement of hot dishes fresh from cooking, forward toward the dining area. They may
remain there for diners to serve themselves buffet style or carried a few short steps to the table.
The primary living room is bordered by granite eminating
from the fireplace, the natural focal point of the room.
The gas-flame fireplace does not radiate a lot of heat, but if it did, the granite surrounding
it would be unaffected.
This view from the primary
living room threshold shows attitional granite topping in a low partition which helps "deine" each area and
provides flat area for a handy candy dish, newon arrived mail, etc. space
Approaching the front door hallway and coat closet on the right, there is amply space o the granite
floor for family and guests donning full cold-weather coats and hats, It also seems to invite all to linger, looking back
at the spacious, well appointed quarters and perhaps to consider how granite might add lustre and pride to their own homes
as well.
